ABOUT
ME

I approach every session with a client with the personal experience of absolute belief and trust that it works.

A. Browne

I was brought up in a culture where therapy didn't exist, and everyone seemed to just get on with things, the good was good and the bad wasn’t really talked about.

Approximately 20 years ago I was persuaded, reluctantly to have some therapy and it was life changing for me. I learnt that psychotherapy sessions aren't about crying and feeling terrible. They're about finding meaning, shifting beliefs and building resilience.

I started to understand and feel how my past was affecting me in the present, and rather than blaming and shaming myself and others for what had gone before, I found the ability to hold compassion for myself (and the rest of the world) whilst expanding my own bandwidth of tolerating emotion, good and bad, and ability to stay present in the moment.

From my experience of therapy I was inspired to continue to be in the world and with people in a more positive way; ‘share the love and experience’, so to speak, and so in 2003 I began the epic journey and marathon of retraining from my corporate background to become a psychotherapist.

Big change!

Today, I use my original training in humanistic and integrative psychotherapy as a solid base for working with all adults and young people, and have developed a particular interest in trauma, addictive behaviours and coping mechanisms, and their link to early childhood experiences, developmental and childhood trauma; 'ACE's' (Adverse Childhood Experiences), and how these affect survivors as adults.

I am now influenced by the findings and growing modalities such as IFS, SE, and ISP, developed by international trauma and addiction experts and am really enjoying the continuing learning.

I have come to believe that unresolved or unprocessed trauma is stored in the body and by reconnecting to our body, and being more aware of our nervous system responses, its possible to become more resilient along with potentially gently releasing trauma, and that it isn't always necessary to relive the experience through words and memories, and can be helpful to access and work with the feelings.

I have found that the way I live my life personally and professionally continues to improve and change and shift, through the experiences and learning that I’ve had so far, along with where I’m at with adding to my strengths and beliefs in the present and looking to the future.

It’s a way of being in the world for me now, and I feel grateful to be in a profession that I truly believe in and that I love.

It’s a privilege for me to be alongside someone in their therapeutic journey, and I don't hold that privilege lightly.

FEES / COSTS

Psychotherapy requires a commitment from both you and me (client and therapist).

We would meet for an initial session where you can ask any questions you may have about how we would work together, and for me to find out what you are looking for from therapy. If we decide to progress, it would be on the basis of a commitment to regular weekly sessions.

I work face to face from a quiet room in Clifton, and online.

NB I won't see anyone for a session if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and the session must still be paid for.

  • My fee is £45 per session.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes.

  • I keep some spaces at a lower cost for students or low income clients.
